Children of Abraham

Muslims claim to be the children of the promise, descendants of Ishmael. Although the Bible clearly teaches that Isaac was to inherit the promise, we often forget that God also promised to make Ishmael a great nation.

Just as Westerners have much fear and little understanding of Islam, Muslims have numerous misconceptions about followers of Christ. Most Muslims believe that everyone in America is a Christian. Therefore, because the United States is the leading exporter of pornography, and due to the sin so prevalent in Hollywood movies and on TV, Muslims are often surprised to find that true followers of Christ are moral people.

One such Muslim was Dr. Sharafat Siddiqi. Dr. Siddiqi was always fascinated by Isa (Arabic for Jesus), but when he came to the Truthseekers office in Delhi, he realized that there was more to Isa than what he had read in the Qu'ran.

His encounter with Christ caused him to consider some difficult questions. How can followers of Christ correct these misunderstandings in a non-threatening manner? Can a Muslim-born person believe in Isa without alienating himself from his community? Is it possible to study the Qu'ran and the Bible?

Today, Dr. Siddiqi is a Muslim follower of Isa who boldly tells people that you cannot be a true Muslim unless you believe in Christ's sacrifice. He also shares that the Qu'ran even states that Christ is coming back to establish his Kingdom.

Dr. Siddiqi's vision is to start an English speaking Madrasa elementary school in Delhi. A Madrasa school is usually used only for study of the Qu'ran, but Dr. Siddqi's program is designed for Muslim children to study both the Qu'ran and the Bible. Students will be encouraged to search the Scriptures to formulate their own opinions rather than believing rumors.

To create employment opportunities in a male-dominated community, only female teachers will be allowed to apply for positions in the school. After the 3rd grade, children will also begin to learn a trade that will help them when they finish school. Dr. Siddiqi will specifically target children whose families are struggling financially.

Muslim, Jew, Christian. We are all the sons and daughters of Abraham.
Is God calling you to cry out for Ishmael to return home?
